The Hungry Hearts. Pin-up performance band.

Performances

Some personal experiences from places and venues The Hungry Hearts have performed at:

We have Blondies shoe

In august 2008 The Hungry Hearts was invited to have a performance at The Storås Festival in Norway.

The Storås Festival is a music festival, but also have an ”Art in the festival-festival”. The day after our performance the one and only Blondie performed at the festival. Blondie is a mature lady now, but beautiful and more sensual than ever. Her voice reached the woods of Storås and she did a marvellous performance. The Hungry Hearts and one of our associated members of The Hungry Hearts, Mona stood waving softly with their arms when Blondie suddenly said: ” Oh I almost forgot.” Then she smiled her big -mouth smile, took off her left shoe and threw it into the crowd. The high-heeled shoe flied through the air and arms stretched for it… The shoe landed in The Hungry Hearts’ long arms. We have Blondies shoe. And here it is:

Oslo Queer Festival 2008

There is no festival in Norway that can compete with the kind atmosphere Oslo Queer festival delivers. The organizers, the people, the calmness, kindness, the venue- Indigo- and the quality, make this a very special festival. Among all the black dressed visitors with their huge amount of silver jewellery, weird men and women and in-betweens and radicals, we found ourselves in a universe were we belonged.

Paris International Lesbian and Feminist Film Festival (Cineffable) 2007

In an old and beautiful Theater called Trianon Theater we did our first performance in France.

The organizers, the venue and the atmosphere were superb. Thousands of lesbian feminist film lovers where gathered in Trianon Theatre watching and discussing films, eating and drinking nice cheap food and wine. It was like coming to the lesbian heaven.

Our contact person, the blue-eyed Valery Roy, helped us finding a cheap hotel and she made our stay in Paris unforgettable. The French people outside Trianon Theatre are as rude and inpolite as you can imagine, and are not charming at all.

We did two performances and one extra: her are some pictures:

Kansai International Queer Film Festival 2007

Our first time in Japan.

The streets were clean, the people polite and the weather was hot. We lived in U-En guesthouse in Osaka. The guesthouse is built in a traditional Japanese style. Kana and Saki is the name of to fantastic women who owns the U-En guesthouse. Before Kana met Saki she dreamt about travelling around the world. She did not have the money to do this so she thought she could have the world visiting her instead. Saki and Kana met at work. The both worked in a big computer fcompany. Sake describes Kana as a drinker and Kana told us that Sakes big dream is to be a bar singer. They both have dreams of buying the first floor so they can open a bar at U-Guesthouse. Kana loves Tequila and Sake and Saki also enjoys alcohol.

Kana and Saki touched our hearts and Tonje Edith and Mona (a fan and guest-performer) will visit Kana and Saki at the guesthouse in november 2009. They will make a performance weekend at the Guesthouse together with Kana and Saki, and Saki will perform with the Hungry Hearts. We will also screen a film where we shoot some parts in secret at the guesthouse.

Kansai International Queer Film Festival venue was in the 8th floor of a shopping centre.

The organizers were as all Japanese people very clever and trustful.

We especially fell in love with Choo who also arranged a performance night at a small art and café gallery called Nara where we participated.

Choo has a beautiful mouth and a very special soul. She looks at you in a way you are not used to and we still notice her eyes looking at us …

Edith loved Japan and can’t stop talking about the metro, the tidy streets and the toilets.

Edith loves systems and people that manage to be tidy, polite and behaving as good citizens.

Tonje loved the Sushi, the people and the general atmosphere. She gave a lot of hugs and confused the Japanese people who are not used to hugs, but to bow in front of each other. But Tonje felt that they liked the hugs and she believes that hugging can be a big hit in Japan.

Pantyhose Lady did not know where to smoke her cigarettes in Osaka and could not find any public ashtrays. The heat and the moisture took a lot of her energy and her long pale body demanded water all the time.

Sofia had travelled a long way from New York. She got confused in Japan and did not really understand what you can do, and what you cannot do. She walked around in her see -through underwear and did not notice that people could see too much. The Japanese people are not so used to nudity, in fact it is illegal to perform nude. Sofia has in general trouble with fitting into customs and rules and we often have to explain to her that she needs to put on some clothes.

Landmark Art-Club:

A profesional art-scene in Norway. Nice organizers, good sound, and a modern venue that can give performances and video screenings good conditions.

Modern and professional art venues are rare in Norway. Usually Art organizations and galleries are offered buildings in bad shape by the local government. But Landmark is modern and has a nice atmosphere.

“Høstutstillingen” Autumn Exhibition 2007:

A once a year national fine-art exhibition at ”Kunstnernes Hus” in Oslo, Norway.

We did nine performances.

NBK ( Norwegian Visual Artists Organisation) pretend to be an organisation for the visual artist in Norway. The leaders seem to have some sort of lamp-fever and therefor hide in their office. Sometimes they have to talk in public places and that is always a very strange experience.

NBK is a silent story ... but the rumours says that nothing has happened in NBK since 1990 ... For the visual artists this is a serious problem, but no one seemes to dare to talk about the real problem.

Her are som pictures:

Vestlandsutstillingen 2006

The people were nice and we got the best sound technician we have ever had. In Scandinavia ”Dance-band music” is popular. These musicians always sounds good and no one make better Live- sound than these people.
